The most important thing to remember, is that it's impossible to make hair grow faster overnight. It takes both time and a good amount of patience to grow long hair. The hair grows at an average of 1 cm a month, so to get a long hair usually requires a good deal of patience. But that doesn't mean that you can't help it growing faster. Read more about that here and get tips on how to get fast hair growth.
1. REMEMBER THE OCCASIONAL HAIR CUT
Ironically, a pair of scissors and haircuts are your friends. It is of course not the regular hair cut itself that promotes fast hair growth. No, it's about preventing the hair from splitting and getting damaged, and thus can a regular hair cut be a great idea for a healthy and long hair as this will actually help make hair grow faster. Cleaved hair can result in many unnecessary inches of broken and damaged hair. That's why your hair actually will end up shorter than if you get a consistent hair cut at your hair dresser regularly. Depending on your hair and its overall condition, a haircut every 2-4 months can turn out to be a great investment in the long run. But remember to ask your hairdresser only to cut off split ends.
2. USE CONDITIONER AFTER EVERY HAIR WASH
Use a conditioner EVERY time you have washed your hair with shampoo. It is absolutely crucial that you follow this step. A good conditioner can help replace lipids and proteins inside the hair, as well as seal the hair with an outer shell of protection. By preventing the hair from getting damaged, a conditioner can also help you grow hair fast. But you will also benefit a shinier and more workable hair that will be easier to brush and style.
3. DON'T EXAGGERATE YOUR USE OF SHAMPOO
Do not use shampoo every time you take a shower if you want to make hair grow faster. Put your hair up in a bun so you avoid getting it rinsed every time you are in the shower. Too many hair washes are one of the main reasons for broken and damaged hair. So, if you want to experience fast hair growth, take a break with the shampoo. This is why too many hair washes with shampoo can damage your hair: The purpose of shampoo is to wash dirt and bacteria away, but what many people do not realize is that the same shampoo also cleans and washes away natural oils that keep your hair soft and healthy. So another tip in our "How to get long hair fast" to-do list is to hold back with the shampoo.
When you really need to wash your hair with shampoo, start with the scalp. That's where the hair is most greasy, so be sure to massage and apply the shampoo thoroughly in order to get lots of foam. Afterwards you can let the foam slide down over the hair tips. Finish by rinsing your hair with water.
4. USE HAIR OILS OR DEEP CONDITIONING HAIR MASK TREATMENTS
Another great advice to achieve fast hair growth, is to apply and use a good hair oil or mask once a week. Your long hair, which is regularly exposed to abrasion, most likely has a greater need for care than what a regular conditioner can do for it. If you want long hair, a good moisture cure can be especially beneficial for you. We recommend a coconut oil treatment, and you can make this from home; use 1 cup of unrefined coconut oil mixed with 1 tbsp. of almond, macadamia and jojoba oil. Because oils can leave a residue on the hair, apply it to a damp hair and let it sit and work for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, rinse the remaining oil in the hair with shampoo and conditioner. These amazing oils are able to fill the hair with fatty acids, and when rinsed with a regular shampoo, the oil remains inside the hair which will nourish and protect it. If you don't want to try out a homemade treatment, try an oil-based hair treatment instead, as recommended by your hairdresser.
